12 December, 2025Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa will develop Tribolab 4.0, an automated platform for tribological testing that uses collaborative robotics, artificial intelligence and event-based control systems.
The installation will automate tasks such as specimen handling and analysis. It will incorporate machine vision and digital tools designed to improve testing productivity, safety and traceability.
The project aims to modernise Basque vocational education and provide real-life scenarios for technical learning. Its results will be applied in programmes covering Industrial Automation and Robotics, Industrial Mechatronics and the specialisation in Maintenance Digitalisation.
Tribolab 4.0 is funded by the Basque Government’s Deputy Ministry of Education and promoted by TKNIKA. Industrial companies will contribute materials and help validate the platform, supporting knowledge transfer between training centres and the manufacturing sector.
The initiative has been designed as a scalable and replicable solution for developing skills related to Industry 4.0 and interdisciplinary learning methods.
